BETA : National Equestrian Survey

The British Equestrian Trade Association (BETA) commissioned Sportswise to undertake an industry study to deliver baseline data across a variety of activity and economic based criteria. Our research covered:

- National incidence of horse ownership and riding

- Economic impact of the sector – equestrian related expenditure

- Equestrian consumer readership and media consumption

- Professional sector ownership and expenditure

The Sportswise survey demanded a variety of research methodologies, including: A nationally representative sample of GB consumers (through an Omnibus survey) to measure national penetration of horse riding/ownership, folowed by 1000 telephone interviews with horse owners and riders, and then a further 200 interviews with equestrian professional within the sector.

Our Work

1. Overall Survey design – A multi stage, multi method approach to ensure
client objectives of an ‘industry’ baseline research survey were met.

2. Design of survey questionnaires and management of survey stages
    through qualified survey partners)

3. Analysis and report publication for national and governmental review

Our Feedback

The findings are used right across the equestrian spectrum from our own members to the British Equestrian Federation and Government. The research provides the one single source of independent information for the equestrian sector. I would not hesitate to recommend Sportswise...in fact I have  Claire Williams, Executive Director and Secretary, BETA
